A Quarantine for Repentance (Day 3)
- We must repent for making a bad use of time. Many times free time was wasted on useless things. «Redeeming the time, because the days are evil» – Ephesians 5.16
- We must repent for making prayer and Bible reading a routine task, rather than a humble search for the face of God. “… This people of lips honor me; but his heart is far from me ”- Matthew 15.8
- We must repent for saturating our prayers with petitions in our favor and in search of our comfort, thinking very little about the affairs of others. «… keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints» – Ephesians 6.18
- We must repent for giving more importance to the problems and tribulations of this temporary life than to the spiritual matters of an eternal character. “… Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth” – Colossians 3.2
- We must repent for misusing the things that God has given us, for that prevailing selfish tendency that prevents us from sharing and giving generously. “… We must help the weak… it is more blessed to give than to receive” – Acts 20.35
- We must repent for belittling the Lord’s day, acting as if dedicating an entire day to worship and caring for our souls was too much. “… If you turn back your foot from the Sabbath… if you honor it not, not going your own ways… then you shall take delight in the Lord” – Isaiah 58.13,14
- We should repent for seeking the boundaries between the permissible and the sinful, rather than longing for a higher level of holiness. “Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. ” Philippians 4.8
- We should repent for being more concerned with keeping up appearances than knowing what it is to walk with God for real. «Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good ”- Romans 12.9
- We must repent when for the sake of not being considered a fanatic we have copied the way of speaking, dressing and having fun that this unbelieving world has. «You also be holy in all your conduct» – I Peter 1.15
- We must repent for having witnessed baptisms without participating in the joy of angels for the repentance of a sinner. «There is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents» – Luke 15.10
- We must repent for approaching the Lord’s table without due contrition of heart and without meditating on the suffering of the Lamb of God to remove our sin. «You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons» – I Corinthians 10.21
- We must repent because we have not knocked down the altar of the comfort god before whom we have prostrated ourselves so many times. «Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.» – Philippians 2.4
- We must repent for not having held the House of God in high esteem. «You shall keep my Sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary. I am the Lord. ” – Leviticus 19.30
- We must repent for the lack of brotherly love. “Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. «- Romans 12.10
- We must repent for the lack of compassion for the unbelievers, without remembering that we were also unbelievers. «And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds» – Colossians 1.21
- We must repent for being bored in prayers, apathetic in the midst of praise, and distracted in preaching. “My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God ”- Psalm 84.2
- We must repent for the few efforts of evangelization. «Go into all the world and proclaim the Gospel to the whole creation» – Mark 16.15
- We must repent for setting a bad example for new converts. «It is good not to eat meat or drink wine, or do anything that causes your brother to stumble.» – Romans 14:21
- We must repent for all that we have done contrary to the law of God. “Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness ”- I John 3.4
- We must repent for not being diligent in keeping God’s commandments. «So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin» – James 4.17
