(English Version at the End) – Quinta Semana de Cuarentena
Dios está tratando con los seres humanos en todo el mundo. Esto es así, porque el Soberano del Universo, a pesar de ser Santísimo, es Dios inmanente, es decir, Él se involucra con sus criaturas.
Las Sagradas Escrituras describen los llamados y advertencias de Dios como el toque de las trompetas que advierten que el Rey se aproxima.
Muchos siguen ignorando los toques de las trompetas que anuncian juicio y que llaman a los pecadores a volverse a Dios, y entonces tapan sus oídos para no escuchar las advertencias. Así mismo ocurría en los tiempos de los profetas:
“Puse también sobre vosotros atalayas, que dijesen: Escuchad al sonido de la trompeta. Y dijeron ellos: No escucharemos.”
Jeremías 6.17
Pero el profeta Daniel afirma que los creyentes, los que constituyen el pueblo del Pacto, ellos reaccionan diferente:
“… el pueblo que conoce a su Dios, se esforzará y actuará”
Daniel 11.32
¿Cómo debe actuar el pueblo de Dios? Hay muchas cosas que por la gracia de Dios podemos hacer. Lo primero es mantenernos confiados en las promesas de Dios y nunca caer en el afán y la ansiedad que caracteriza a los incrédulos. Esto dará un claro testimonio acerca del Salvador Jesucristo en el cual hemos creído, porque Él prometió que cuidaría de sus ovejas siempre.
Ahora bien, esto no se trata de una auto-sugestión como la que practican los adherentes a la “confesión positiva”. Nosotros no creemos que por hablar positivamente las cosas van a mejorar. Se trata de una confianza cierta en Cristo y en Sus promesas, que nos lleva a expresarnos como el apóstol Pablo en medio de toda clase de tribulaciones:
“… Todo lo puedo en Cristo que me fortalece”
Filipenses 4.13
Y esa frase “todo lo puedo” no se refiere a alcanzar sueños o metas personales, se refiere a poder pasar por las aflicciones sin desesperar, descansando en el Señor. Esto se deduce del contexto en Filipenses 4.
Una segunda acción que considero útil en medio de esta crisis es animar a aquellos que han sido seguidores de ciertos hombres que pretenden tener dones como tuvieron los apóstoles, a reconsiderar sus creencias y sus prácticas.
¿Por qué los que dicen tener autoridad sobre los demonios y sobre la enfermedad hasta el punto de atreverse a decretar y declarar sanidad y libertad no están haciendo uso de esas facultades durante esta epidemia?
Es un buen momento para refutar esa enseñanza que logró infiltrarse en tantas iglesias, según la cual los “hombres de Dios” tienen el poder para cambiar las cosas por medio de sus palabras de declaración o decretos.
Dios es soberano y Él en el ciertas épocas específicas dio a sus profetas y apóstoles capacidades especiales, pero una vez que el fundamento de la Iglesia fue establecido, y que se completó la revelación de las Sagradas Escrituras (se cerró el canon), no debemos esperar que los hombres de Dios tengan los poderes que tuvieron los apóstoles y profetas, poderes que servían de confirmación para sus ministerios. Hoy lo único que debemos considerar para validar el ministerio de un predicador es su fidelidad a las enseñanzas apostólicas y su vida de piedad. Nada más.
¿Puede Dios sanar hoy? ¡Claro que sí!
¿Puede Dios sanar del Coronavirus? ¡Claro que sí!, como de cualquier otra enfermedad.
¿Puede Dios impedir que seamos infectados del virus? ¡Claro que sí!
Todo esto puede ocurrir en respuesta a las oraciones del pueblo de Dios, pero ocurrirá solamente si esto es conforme a Su voluntad (su propósito).
Pero también, Dios que es Soberano, puede decidir no sanar y también puede decir no impedir que seamos infectados. Y estando infectados puede que Él nos conceda recuperarnos o puede que Él decida llamarnos a Su presencia muriendo del COVID-19.
La esperanza nuestra no está en las palabras de los hombres sino en la Palabra de Dios. Él ha hecho la siguiente promesa:
“… A los que aman a Dios, TODAS las cosas les ayudan a bien, esto es a los que conforme a Su propósito son llamados”
Romanos 8.28
¿A quiénes traerá paz y consuelo esta promesa?
¡A los que aman a Dios! ¡A los que han sido llamados conforme a Su propósito!
¿Ama usted a Dios? ¿De verdad lo ama? ¿Puede usted decir con limpia conciencia que ha atendido al llamado de Cristo y que está siguiéndole fielmente? Si es así, no tiene nada que temer. Sea lo que sea que suceda, Dios hará que sirva para bien.
Para saber si usted ama a Dios no mire en sus sentimientos o emociones solamente, eso es una parte pequeña de la prueba. La prueba verdadera está en las palabras de Cristo:
«El que me ama, mi palabra guardará… »
Juan 14.23
Entonces sí, si usted ama a Cristo y lo demuestra no solo con sus palabras sino con su vida, tendrá la paz y la seguridad que Él ha prometido, independientemente de las circunstancias.

God is dealing with human beings throughout the world. This is so, because the Sovereign of the Universe, despite being Most Holy, is immanent God, that is, He is involved with His creatures.
The Holy Scripture describes God’s calls and warnings as the sound of trumpets warning that the King is coming near.
Many continue to ignore the blasts of the trumpets announcing judgment and calling sinners to turn to God, and then plug their ears to avoid hearing those warnings. It was the same in the times of the prophets:
«Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken. ”
Jeremiah 6.17
But the prophet Daniel affirms that the believers, which constitute the people of the Covenant, react differently:
«… but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.»
Daniel 11.32
What should the reaction of God´s people? There are many things that by the grace of God we can do. The first thing is to remain confident in the promises of God and never fall into the zeal and anxiety that characterizes unbelievers. This will give a clear testimony about the Savior Jesus Christ in whom we have believed, because He promised that He would take care of his sheep always.
Now this is not a self-suggestion like that practiced by adherents to the «positive confession.» We do not believe that by speaking positively things will improve. It is a certain trust in Christ and in His promises, which leads us to express ourselves as the apostle Paul in the midst of all kinds of tribulations:
“… I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
Philippians 4.13
And that phrase «I can do all things» does not refer to achieving dreams or personal goals, it refers to being able to go through afflictions without despair, resting on the Lord. This follows from the context in Philippians chapter 4.
A second action that I find useful in the midst of this crisis is to encourage those who have been followers of certain men who claim to have gifts as the apostles had, to reconsider their beliefs and practices.
How come those who claim to have authority over demons and over sickness to the point of daring to decree and declare healing and freedom not using these faculties during this epidemic?
It is a good time to refute that teaching that managed to infiltrate so many churches, according to which the «men of God» have the power to change things through their words of declaration or decrees.
God is sovereign and He at certain specific times gave His prophets and apostles special capacities, but once the foundation of the Church was established, and the revelation of the Holy Scriptures was completed (the canon was closed), we should not expect the men of God to have the powers that the apostles and prophets had, powers that served as confirmation for their ministries. Today the only thing we must consider to validate the ministry of a preacher is his fidelity to the apostolic teachings and his life of piety. Nothing else.
Can God still heal today? Of course He can!
Can God heal from the Coronavirus? Yes, of course He can! As well as any other disease.
Can God prevent us from being infected with the virus? Of course!
All of this can happen in response to the prayers of God’s people, but it will only happen if it is according to His will (His purpose).
But also, God who is Sovereign, can decide not to heal and He can also say not to prevent us from being infected. And being infected He may grant us to recover or He may decide to call us into his presence dying of COVID-19.
Our hope is not in the words of men but in the Word of God. He has made the following promise:
«… And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
Romans 8.28
To whom will this promise bring peace and comfort?
To those who love God! To those who have been called according to His purpose!
Do you love God? Do you really love him? Can you say with a clear conscience that you have heeded the call of Christ and that you are faithfully following him? If so, you have nothing to fear. Whatever happens, God will make it work for good.
To find out if you love God don’t look at your feelings or emotions alone, that’s a small part of the test. The true proof is in the words of Christ:
«If a man love me, he will keep my words…»
John 14.23
So yes, if you love Christ and demonstrate it not only with your words but with your life, you will have the peace and security that He has promised, regardless of the circumstances.
